October 19th, 2014 Gulf Coast Half Marathon

The weather was beautiful and chilly, but not too cold. I started strong on my training for this one, but as life got busier it became more difficult towards the end. I did run it all-an important goal for me. I don't count the walking I did for maybe 60 seconds mile 10. My time was about 2.40-not my best time. My best time is 2.25. However, I learned to be okay with that time and just be happy I finished it. What slowed me down was my lack of fuel. Since I went wheat free, I wanted to fuel with natural foods. But my frozen banana pieces and frozen protein (homemade) balls melted even in the cold!!! So I had to toss them, and basically had no fuel. Lesson learned. Spend more time on my fuel. My first split time was amazing, and I did so well. When I got to mile 9, I hit a wall and needed my fuel that had melted. I had a meaningful race though because I learned the importance of planning he right fuel. I have worked so hard on my eating journey, that a little oversight cost me my time goal. Lol. I have never thought felt better having lost about 32 lbs by eliminating wheat. It inflamed me. I have learned so much since I started experimenting with foods and my body.My  next race is next Saturday. Just a  5k since I can't do my traditional Thanksgiving race. We will be in Gatlinbburg. My next big race is NOLA RNR. Super excited for that race!!

Gleaux Run with the family 8/15/14

This was a fun family Friday night lakefront race benefiting the American Cancer Society. I ran with this Lauren, a fellow teacher friend. It was a lot of fun. Bradley won 3rd place in the one mile and was so proud of him. Rae even ran a mile.

RNR Half 2/2/14

This was not my best race. But I did finish it. No PR but I did run 90% of it. I wore a knee brace and had to walk a little at the end. It was so incredibly humid and foggy. I was so HOT! 2.38 was about how long it took me. I was glad I was able to run it, but was a little sad my knee was acting up...(hopefully it goes away. I believe I have what is called runner's knee)---I stayed with Dan at the Marriott Riverfront and we met friends for dinner the night before. I do love this race though. The spirit of it. I look forward to running it every year. It is a keeper!

1/4/14 Resolution Run

6 miles and it was tough! Mud, jumps, and more mud. It was freezing too!! Like 30s as I ran. My friend Crystal ran this one with me. I ended up getting a door prize and winning a place in my age division (there wasn't a crowd. Maybe 8). But I loved this race because did challenge me and it felt good to complete even though I thought about trimming down to the 5k.
