26.2 My first marathon RNR 2/28/16

Louisiana Half Marathon 1/17/16

2.32 beautiful slightly hilly course. It was so cold. The view was so scenic and beautiful. LSU campus, lake, beautiful houses, and more. I was warm in a light jacket even thought is was in early 30s for most of the run. 10,000 runners were present and the spirit of the race was felt. The post party was amazing. I was impressed with this one as it was super organized. Jessica and I spent the night in Baton Rouge and she made a PR of 2.02. Speedy she is. Great memories. 

11/18/15 YMCA LITERACY Race City Park

This was a 5k at City Park that Jessica invited me to run with her. It was fun and a great one in the city. I loved that Zeas came and has their amazing corn grits. Also, my old chiropractor was there and getting a treatment felt great. Rae got up early with me and ran almost a mile. Proud of those girls. 

12/6/15 Girls on the Run

This 5k took me about 32 minutes and was run in warm weather, warm for December. I was happy to watch my friend Joy run her first 5k and she did so well. I also saw Jessica there and we were able to get some pics. So many cute girls running this and such a great race put on by this new local chapter of Girls on the Run. Looking forward to the next one!

Gulf Coast Half Marathon 10/18/15

Another really cool memory from this race is that my friend Darla was proposed to at the finish line. She said yes! I wish her all the best and am so glad she found love. 

Great race. I tried something different. I used the 9:1 ratio for the first 8 miles and then ran the last few straight. I am aiming for no injuries and that 9:1 rayon was great. I felt I ran faster and then switching up the muscles I was using really helped. It was a lot of fun. I came close to a PR. I finished in about 2:31. The temps were great. It was a chilli morn resulting in low 70s. I believe this was the biggest turnout ever for the race. 

Saints Kickoff Run 5k 9/12/15

A fun race into the dome! cooler morning weather and great company.
